What is the Political Courage Test?

Texas Congressional Election 2020 Political Courage Test

Pro-choice Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
With exceptions, as in the case of late term abortions.
No In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
No Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
I intend to work to lower taxes and spending across the board. Less government, lower taxes, more freedom!
No Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
People and organizations should be free to support the candidate of their choice to the extent they choose to do so.
Unknown Position Do you support the protection of government officials, including law enforcement officers, from personal liability in civil lawsuits concerning alleged misconduct?
This issue regarding state and local police should be decided at the state and local level. Congress should not be involved.
No Do you support increasing defense spending?
I'm an Army veteran, but I do not support massive military spending. We already spend far more than any other nation for defense. We do not need to spend more. Give the taxpayer a break!
No Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
No Do you support providing financial relief to businesses AND/OR corporations negatively impacted by the state of national emergency for COVID-19?
I do not support Federal hand outs to business. But I also think businesses should be allowed to open as they see fit.
No Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
Education should be a state/local concern. The Federal government should not be involved.
No Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
No Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
I'm an environmental engineer, but environmental regulations should be a state, not federal, issue. A "one size fits all" dictate from politicians and bureaucrats in Washington is inappropriate.
No Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
I'm a veteran and gun owner and fully support the right of citizens to keep and bear arms.
Yes Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
No Do you support requiring businesses to provide paid medical leave during public health crises, such as COVID-19?
The government should not be foisting more burdensome costs on business, especially in times of economic hardship. Pay and benefits should be decided between the employer and employee. The Federal government should not be involved.
No Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
No Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
This is a largely pointless requirement.
No Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)?
Yes Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts?
As a veteran, I do not believe the US Military should be used to defend the USA, not play "global police force." We should not be getting involved in every conflict around the world. Expensive and often unnecessary military intervention overseas not only cost money that could be better spent elsewhere, they cause far too many of our service members to lose their lives in conflicts that do nothing to help the USA or it's citizens.
Yes Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
Politicians should not be picking winners and losers in business. We should support free trade with minimal government intrusion.
1. Reduce taxes. 2. Reduce government spending and regulation. 3. Increase freedom for all citizens by getting government out of their lives.
